The Vacuum Forming process utilizes vacuum and atmospheric pressure to form heated thermoplastic sheets. The sheet is heated to the correct forming temperature and is then transferred to the vacuum forming mold. Any entrapped air between the hot plastic sheet and the mold is removed to create a vacuum that holds the sheet against the mold surface. After the sheet has cooled and been de-molded, it is ready for any trimming and or secondary operations that are necessary to produce the final product.
Golden Plastics utilizes all of the different forming techniques to produce the best possible parts for your application. Golden Plastics can provide complete consultation on the best process for your application.
The tooling required for vacuum forming is typically inexpensive and can be produced from urethane tooling board for prototype runs, high temperature epoxy for short to medium production runs and from aluminum for high quantity production runs.
